Saddlers defender Zak Jules was pleased to see the team pick up a fourth clean sheet in eight games following the 0-0 draw with Colchester United on Saturday afternoon.
Goalkeeper Liam Roberts made a couple of crucial saves during the game to deny United striker Luke Norris and Jules himself made a few vital tackles to ensure the Saddlers were resolute once again at the back.
Jules, who made his second successive appearance on Saturday following his clean sheet and stand-out performance against Coventry City on Tuesday night, is looking for the team to build on these solid defensive performances.
“I don’t think we were troubled that much throughout the game and I thought we dealt with their attacking play really well.
“Unfortunately we just fell short at the other end of the pitch which has been the story of our season really.
“It’s going to take a lucky break for one of the lads I think, you know like maybe one to go in off one of their shins or something like that and then they can push on from that and the goals will start flowing hopefully.
“We have just got to stick with them and hopefully we will be able to start bringing the three points home soon, starting next weekend with Bradford.
“I think the back line have really gelled, even when we have been rotated, I don’t think it has upset anybody at all.
“Everyone has come into the team, they’ve done their job and that’s what you want really.
“Everyone has got a point to prove here, the lads don’t want to be coming in and make mistakes, they want to come in and show that they can do a job and I think we have got a good relationship throughout the squad to be fair.
“Hopefully now we can add some goals to our game and start picking up the three points and it’ll then be an all rounder.”
