A special series of music-making sessions are to be held at Wednesbury Library to help people experiencing memory loss or living with dementia.
The Beat It Percussion sessions, which are free to attend and also support carers, get under way today and will run for 12 months.
The weekly sessions, held from 10.30am-12noon, will promote inclusion, boost confidence and improve wellbeing of participants.
A Sandwell Council town grant of £3,941.60 is supporting the sessions.
Councillor Farut Shaeen, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for living healthy lives, said: “This is a very worthwhile project which will help people experiencing memory loss or living with dementia to join in with others to enjoy making music.
“The project will also support carers and encourage them to continue the vital role they play.”
Councillor Bob Lloyd, cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, added: “This is another excellent example of how our libraries are at the heart of our communities, with local people coming to Wednesbury Library to socialise and improve their wellbeing.”
