A war memorial in Wednesbury is now fully accessible to local people after a fence was realigned to release it from school grounds.
The Mesty Croft War Memorial was within the grounds of Mesty Croft Academy School after palisade fencing was erected around the school perimeter as a safeguarding measure some years ago.
Councillor Steve Melia, chair of the Sandwell Armed Forces and Veterans Parades’ committees said it had been necessary for people to go into the school grounds to visit the memorial and the council had been working with the school to make it more accessible.
“Now people can visit, or stop and pay their respects, from the roadside,” he added.
