Revised Opening hours at District Libraries and Streetly Community Library
From Sunday 5 January revised opening hours come into effect at Walsall’s five District Libraries (Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Darlaston and Willenhall) and Streetly Community Library.
A key change is that the Libraries will no longer be opening 1-4pm on Sundays. Sunday openings (which began as a trial in January 2018) were not as popular with service users as weekday choices.
However there will no reduction in opening hours overall. The District Libraries will continue to open 46 hours per week, but will be opening at 8:30am instead of 9am on weekdays, Tuesday to Friday, so as to be open earlier for jobseekers, people on their way to work or parents out on the school run. They will also stay open until 5pm on Saturdays instead of closing at 4pm.
At Streetly Community Library the opening hours will be increased from 33 hours per week to 35.5 hours per week. This is because, as well as opening at 8:30am on its open weekdays, and opening until 5pm on Saturdays, Streetly will cease closing for lunch but will be open throughout the day.
