Residents could save on their winter fuel bills if they take part in the latest round of Sandwell Council’s energy saving Big Community Switch scheme.
The Big Community Switch has been running for several years under the Energy Switch banner.
The more households that take part, the great the negotiating power with energy suppliers.
Last year switchers in Sandwell were saving an average of £229 a year on their gas and electricity bills.
With energy bills on the rise and research indicating that people are reluctant to switch because they find it too confusing, the Big Community Switch is the perfect solution.
Households on a standard variable tariff are likely to see significant savings through the Big Community Switch.
Register for the latest round of Sandwell’s Big Community Switch before Tuesday 6 October. It only takes a few minutes and there’s no obligation.
Residents will receive their personal email offer from Monday 19 October.
They can then decide if they want to accept their offer before Tuesday 17 November, and switch if they want to. There’s no obligation.
For those without internet access, up to five households can be registered on one email address so could ask a friend or relative to register you.
Alternatively, residents can also register by calling the Big Community Switch registration line on 0800 048 8439. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 8am – 5.30pm with a recent energy bill to hand.
Councillor Danny Millard, cabinet member for inclusive economic growth, said: “Whether you are working from home as we head towards the winter months and concerned about using more energy, or have considered changing for some time but thought it was too difficult, now is a really good time to consider switching and making sure you’re paying the best price for your energy.
“We know people can really benefit from this scheme so I’d urge people to get signed up and start saving.”
