Carers across the borough can find out more about support on offer and their rights as a carer during an online event this month.
Carer’s Rights Day is a national campaign, with this year’s theme day of ‘Know Your Rights’ taking place on Thursday 26 November.
The council’s Dudley Carers Hub and Wellbeing Service is hosting a ‘Know your Rights’ event through an online zoom meeting from 11am to 12.30pm on the day. To join them and the team from Crossroads about support available in the borough, people can email DudleyCarersHub@dudley.gov.uk for the Zoom link and password.
As a result of the covid pandemic it is estimated that 4.8 million people have taken on caring responsibilities for a family member, friend or neighbour. This is in addition to the estimated 8.8 million adults across the UK according to Carers UK.
Whether you have been caring for someone for a while or are new to caring, it is more important than ever that you understand your rights, what support is available and how to access help when it’s needed.
There is help and support being provided by the council and other organisations and this is the perfect opportunity to learn how to find out what is available. I would encourage anyone who has caring responsibilities to join the online discussion.
A recording of the session will be posted afterwards on www.dudley.gov.uk/carers where people can also find lots of useful information for carers.
As well as information the council’s webpages www.dudley.gov.uk/carers, the Dudley Carers Hub can be contacted on 01384 818723 or email DudleyCarersHub@dudley.gov.uk
Dudley Carers Hub and Wellbeing Service is delivered in partnership with Sandwell Crossroads 494 Wolverhampton Road, Oldbury.
