Tipton fly-tipper fined £400 for dumping rubbish

A Tipton man has been fined £400 for fly-tipping eight black bags of household waste on a Tipton car park.

Sandwell Council was alerted to the illegal dumping on the High Street car park in Princes End by a member of Litter Watch.

After removing the rubbish, council officers undertook an investigation. From this they were able to identify a local address and the resident admitted to dumping eight bags of household rubbish.

An Environmental Enforcement Officer issued the man with a £400 Fixed Penalty Notice.

Sandwell Council’s deputy leader, Councillor Maria Crompton, said: “Fly-tipping is totally unacceptable and costs the taxpayer a significant amount of money to clear away.

“As a council we need to be concentrating all our efforts on essential services and supporting our most vulnerable residents during the continuing pandemic.”

Cabinet member Councillor Danny Millard added: “We use CCTV and reports from the public to help identify the perpetrators of fly-tipping incidents.

“Our staff will investigate every single fly-tipping incident reported to us and we will be issuing £400 fines to anyone who is found to be responsible for fly-tipping.”
