Walsall Council’s review of ensuring that all residents who meet the eligibility criteria for a council tax single occupancy discount are fully supported is now underway.
Councillor Adrian Andrew, Deputy Leader said: “We are undertaking our annual review of who’s eligible for the Council Tax single occupancy for those individuals who meet the criteria.entitlements to ensure that our records are correct.
“It is vital that all residents help us to achieve our aim of ensuring public funds are used appropriately in supporting residents across the Borough. It’s a legal requirement and we’re focusing on making it as simple a process as possible with the least impact on residents.
“We are collaborating with external agencies to make these council tax residency checks an easy way for our residents to let us know their status as well as the most cost effective way to review the discount entitlement. We are all aware that every penny counts, especially just now. If you’re entitled to the discount, make sure you let us know.”
