100th grant award for Worcestershire start-ups

A funding initiative that helps new Worcestershire businesses to grow and succeed has successfully awarded its 100th grant.

Enterprising Worcestershire offers financial and operational support to a wide range of start-ups in the region, helping them to build their businesses through investment in new equipment, website and marketing services and expert legal and financial consultancy.

Since being founded in 2016, Enterprising Worcestershire has offered finance packages to entrepreneurs operating in a wide range of sectors, allowing businesses to develop sustainably whilst making a positive contribution to the regional economy and employment rates across the county.

Small and medium sized enterprises that have been trading for less than three years can apply for a grant from £1000 up to a maximum of £2500, all available at a match funding rate of 50%.

The Enterprising Worcestershire programme is supported with funding from Worcestershire county council, local district councils and the European Regional Development Fund.

Enterprising Worcestershire project support officer Ibby Hussain said:

“Enterprising Worcestershire has been a great success and to have invested in 100 local businesses is a fantastic milestone. This type of funding provides a great springboard for start-up companies and has a positive effect on the local economy.

“The scheme has benefited a broad range of businesses in different industries and is a reminder of the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that exists in the region and how important it is that we support and help new businesses to flourish.

“Our focus now turns to supporting many more Worcestershire based entrepreneurs.”
