Staff donate hundreds of toys to worthy causes

Kind hearted staff at Dudley Council have donated hundreds of presents to children this Christmas.

For the second year running, staff working in housing services, based at the Leys depot have donated dozens of gifts to Free Radio’s mission Christmas, which provides presents to disadvantaged children and young people aged 0 to 18 across the region.

Another 40 presents were donated to the 4 Steps to a Smile charity by staff in the council’s adult social care finance team and the communications team. The presents will go to vulnerable children in the West Midlands who are in refuges, children’s homes or the care system.

Staff also donated hundreds of items to Operation Santa, in a scheme which was also supported by generous residents, businesses and community groups, and coordinated by Dudley Council for Voluntary Service in conjunction with Black Country Radio. More information on Operation Santa can be found at www.blackcountryradio.co.uk/local/operation-santa-2019/

Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:

This time of year certainly brings out the best in people. Thanks to every single person who has given generously to make Christmas special for children and young people across Dudley borough and beyond.
