Every Tuesday throughout the summer holidays Sandwell’s Youth Bus will making visits across Sandwell.
Young people can take part in free activities including playing on DJ decks, games consoles and the giant climbing wall.
Sessions are aimed at young people aged 10 to 19. As well as these activities young people have the chance to talk to experienced youth workers about their issues.
These extra sessions kicked off with a visit to Victoria Park in Smethwick where young people came in their droves to take part in the free activities.
The Youth Bus will visit the following locations between 4pm and 8pm:
- Tuesday 30 July – Tividale Park, Oldbury
- Tuesday 6 August – West Bromwich Town Centre (next to the bus station)
- Tuesday 13 August – Brunswick Park, Wednesbury
- Tuesday 20 August – Britannia Park, Rowley Regis
- Tuesday 27 August – Jubilee Park, Tipton
Councillor Joyce Underhill, cabinet member for best start in life, said: “Our youth services team is offering lots of activites during the holidays not just at their usual venues but out in the community too.
“I’m thrilled we are able to put on extra sessions for the summer holidays and encourage young people to come along and join in the fun.”
Youth workers will also be providing extra sessions at Brunswick Park, Wednesbury every Tuesday from 12midday to 3pm where young people can also take part in sports, team games and craft activities.
Sandwell’s Youth Service is also offering arts and crafts, magic and circus skills sessions throughout the holidays at Coneygre Youth Arts Centre. There are also outdoor activity sessions in August at Malthouse Outdoor Activity Centre including canoeing, climbing and archery. These sessions cost £5 each. For these sessions children and young people need to be between 10 and 19 years old. Booking places in advance.
