Christmas has arrived early at the Red House Glass Cone with a mini fir tree forest springing up on site.
Nearly 40 Christmas trees have temporarily taken root at the visitor attraction as part of its Christmas Tree Festival, which runs until 5 January. It was officially opened by the Mayor of Dudley on Sunday 17 November.
Groups, businesses, charities and individuals have all provided uniquely decorated trees for the display, which will help to raise money for the Mayor of Dudley’s chosen charities through donations. People submitting a tree are asked to make a £5 donation which will help raise money Macmillan Cancer Support and The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and Black Country.
The Christmas Tree Festival launched ahead of the cone’s annual Christmas weekend on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November. During the weekend Santa and Mrs Claus will be at the Red House Glass Cone and the site’s craft studios will be opening their doors. There will also be glass fusing sessions both days with the chance to make a glass Christmas tree for just £6 – advance booking on 01384 815571 required.
The White House Glass Cone will be hosting its annual Christmas craft market over the weekend with craft stalls, refreshments, a choir and the chance to decorate a glass bauble.
Councillor David Stanley, the Mayor of Dudley said:
Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm and Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 4pm and admission is free. This year the site will be open until 7pm for on Friday 29 November with the chance to see the Christmas trees illuminated in the dark, enjoy refreshments and take part in some simple family craft activities.
The Christmas tree festival runs from 17 November to 5 January. The cone will be closed 24 December until 3 January 2020.
