From December 2019 the venue becomes the Walsall Arena and Arts Centre. The change is partly due to the increasing popularity of the Centre’s state -of-the-art A3 Arena, which in a few short years has gained a big following with both artists and audiences. Top draw comedians Chris Ramsey, Omid Djalili and Jenny Eclair have already performed there and it doesn’t stop with laughter either, timeless folk legends ‘Fairport Convention’ and vintage Soul sensations ‘The Drifters’ have also graced its stage.
The new name is both clear in terms of geography and its natural development – evidenced in ‘coming attractions’ for 2020, Milton Jones, Ed Byrne and Henning Wehn are all scheduled to appear there next year. Performance space at Walsall Arena and Arts Centre certainly means choice. The site is flexible because it brings together brilliant performers with international profile and also gives a platform to local arts, education and entertainment all under one roof. Choice ranges from settings for intimate groups of 40 people or less, to seating for up to 650. It is this versatility, combined with with top notch artists, equipment, engineers and on site advisors that put it on the map as an established and competitive entertainment venue – with something for everyone.
Programming and Arena Manager Simon Pugh said: “We’re really excited about the name change, we feel that ‘Walsall Arena and Arts Centre’ provides a more accurate picture of everything we do here. There really is so much going on under one roof, the Arts Centre events are still a vital part of our offer, but we’re pleased to be able to acknowledge the Arena in this way”.
