Enjoy Christmas at Sandwell’s museums

Sandwell Museums staff have organised a joyful Yuletide programme to ensure families can enjoy a world of festive fun and winter wonder in the run-up to Christmas,

The events will bring songs and carols, candlelit evenings, ice skating sessions, family fun, movies, pantomimes, real reindeer, Christmas crafts and Santa in his grotto to the borough’s museums.

Jane Hanney-Martin, Museums Services Manager, said: “We have some exciting events planned for the whole family and I would urge people to come along to get an early taste of fun and joy in the run-up to Christmas, it’s guaranteed that families can get into the festive mood.

“Our attractive historic buildings will be traditionally decorated with beautiful trees and real greenery and bathed in candlelight at our candlelit evenings at Oak House on 12 December 6pm-9pm (£3 per adult and £1 per child) and Haden Hill House and Old Hall on 5 December 6-8.30pm (£4 for both houses).

Families can start their festive season by writing letters to Santa and posting them in one of the museum services magical post boxes and see Santa in one of our magical grottos at all our main sites throughout December and there are lots of festive family fun events.

Tickets can be booked for the annual Christmas performance at Wednesbury Museum with HobGoblin Theatre Company who this year will be performing Wind in the Willows on 7 December at 11.30am and 2.30pm (£5 per person or £20 for a family ticket).

The Salvation Army will be putting on the ever-popular carol concerts with the Salvation Army at Oak House on 17, 18 or 19 December (booking essential) or some fantastic sing-a-long Christmas tunes at the Manor House on Friday 20 December from 7pm.
