Have your say on older people projects

Residents are being invited to choose which community projects to benefit older people the council should support.

Dudley Council is launching the Connecting Older People Fund and community groups have been invited to bid for a slice of £60,000 to run projects that improve the lives of older people in the borough.

Each idea needs to help older people get out and about more, meet up with friends and make new ones.

Anyone with an interest in older people’s health and wellbeing is invited to attend the ‘Pitch it, Vote it’ event on Monday 27 January from 1.30 to 3.30pm at the DY1 Centre on Stafford Street, Dudley.

At the event community groups will share their ideas before those in attendance vote on which projects the funds should go to.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:

Loneliness can have a huge impact on both physical and mental health. We want to help older people stay positive and enjoy life.
We also want local people to be more involved in deciding how to spend public money as well as giving residents more opportunity to provide solutions to local issues.
