Holiday activities at Sandwell libraries thanks to funding support

Half-term fun at Sandwell libraries next week will include entertaining activities funded by a special grant secured by the Federation of Friends of Sandwell Libraries.

From magic to music, a total of 116 sessions are being held over a 12-month period with professional entertainers delivering activities at libraries during school holidays.

The Federation of Friends of Sandwell Libraries successfully applied to Sandwell Council for a town grant of £11,245 to provide the activities at all libraries during school holidays across Sandwell’s six towns.

Nina Rogers, secretary of the Federation of Friends of Sandwell Libraries, said: “The grant is of great benefit to children and families, encouraging creative and imaginative thinking. The live performances are really essential for children.”

Councillor Bob Lloyd, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, said: “It’s wonderful to have these fun and entertaining activities for children and families in school holidays. I would like to thank the Federation of Friends for all the support they give all year round, helping to attract people into our libraries from an early age.”
