Minced pies served up for Mayor’s Christmas carol concert

Asda Great Bridge has generously donated more than 300 mince pies for this year’s civic Christmas carol concert which takes place next Saturday, 8 December at West Bromwich Town Hall. Sandwell Mayor, Councillor Dr Ann Jaron received the early Christmas present from community colleague Parv Basi and deputy store manager James Farrell at the Great Bridge store. Councillor Jaron, said: “I would like to say a really big thank you to Asda Great Bridge for their generous donation once again.

“Their regular support for the Mayor’s Christmas carol concert is very much appreciated. Selling the mince pies at the concert will help us raise more funds to help the charities.” Monies raised from the concert will be donated to her charities which are Brushstrokes Community Project and Sandwell Young Carers.

The line up for this year’s concert – the 130th – features Sandwell Youth Brass Band, the Saint Catherine of Siena Academy choir plus soloists Isabel Cash and Becki Challoner. The compere is Phil Challoner and the choir director is Tanya Derham with the programme including Christmas songs and carols to get you in the festive mood. Members of the Sandwell District Scouts will be serving refreshments. The concert starts at 6.30pm.
