Rotary Club funding to provide waves of fun

The £10,000 equipment was installed at the award-winning adventure playground following an amazing donation from the Dudley Rotary Club to meet the capital costs.

Equipment includes the new fantastic water channel, complete with water basins, timber channels, stone-based river, splash pools, dams and natural boulders.

Installed by Play Scheme, the equipment is a welcome addition to popular children’s venue and naturally adds to the range of pirate themed activities taking place there this week.

During the course of the week, there will be plenty on offer to keep little swashbucklers busy including sword making, sword fighting, treasure hunts and lots more on offer.

I extend my personal thanks and gratitude to everyone at the Dudley Rotary club for their outstanding work in raising funds for the new water play area.

I am so excited to see the new water play area now installed at Sycamore, I have no doubt that children will get many hours of joy from this new addition.

As part of the Dudley Deal, we pride ourselves on working with businesses, community groups and organisations such as the Rotary to help invest in facilities for children and young people of the borough.

Throughout the 98 years since the Rotary Club was formed, which was one of the first in the UK, club members have supported the local community through fundraising, especially young people.

The Rotary’s investment marks one of a series of developments which are taking place at the adventure playground. A relaunch of Sycamore is set to take place next month.

Alan Black, President of the Rotary Club of Dudley, said:

A vital part of our work is to support the local community. The provision of the new water play facility at Sycamore Adventure adds a further dimension to this excellent facility for children.

Play sessions take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11am to 4pm and on Saturday from 11am to 2pm for all families. Children with SEND and their families can enjoy special activities on Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm.

A suggested donation of £3.50 per child is in place and visitors should register to play on the website if they have not done so before.

The popular shark bait café is open on site offering a new tasty menu.
