Town grants for groups amounting to more than £3,000 helped to finance two events in West Bromwich to encourage local people to get together in their communities.
A grant of £1,916 was awarded to the Christian Youth and Community Service – Bridging the GAP, to support a special fun day at Hargate Primary School.
The town grants budget funded the community Play Day event on the Tantany estate.
The event, part of national Play Day, aimed to celebrate and encourage children, families and community partners to join together.
Meanwhile, a special music event with children’s entertainment was held in Dartmouth Park to give local bands the chance to perform and an opportunity for people to hear live music in the park.
The free event was organised by the Friends of Dartmouth Park with the support of a £1,275 town grant to highlight the park and to encourage more volunteers to join in their work.
