The Sandwell African Caribbean Mental Health Foundation is an organisation based at the Kuumba Centre in Boulton Road, West Bromwich which works to help people recovering from mental health problems.
They provide culturally responsive services to support people to recover and become independent. They have outreach support staff and support for ex-offenders and carers.
A £3,302 grant from the Sandwell Council local grants team has enabled the Foundation’s staff and volunteers to buy six laptops to help with its wellness and recovery programme.
The clients who attend the Kuumba Centre will use the laptops to access information on local job opportunities, health, well-being, welfare and benefits advice and support.
They will also be used in activities where the clients will work with staff and volunteers to seek fund-raising projects for the future.
Councillor Steve Melia, town chair for West Bromwich, said: “The new laptops will enable the clients to do more to help themselves in a lot of different areas of their life.
“The Foundation does some excellent work for members of their community and I am pleased that our grants scheme has led to them offering improved services to their clients.”
