Ladies Strike a Pose for Fundraising Calendar

A frequent supporter of The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity has raised almost £2,000 for the Trust’s specialist cancer centre.

Cheryl Finch, from Willenhall, decided to create calendars in memory of her friends who worked at the Trust; Michelle Matthews and Julie McCarron.

The calendars feature some of her female Facebook friends who responded to an appeal to model.

She said: “The local community have been so supportive and helped me raised the funds, with one gentleman donating £500 towards production of the calendars.

“I also had support from the wider community – with one purchase coming all the way from Australia.

“Ellie Colburn took all the photographs for the calendar, offering her services free of charge.

“The photographs were taken at The Royal Oak Portobello and Gilberts Bar in Willenhall who both donated use of their pubs for the shoot.”

The calendars went on sale in November 2019, where they were sold for £5 each.

So far Cheryl has raised £1,907.94 which will be donated to the Snowdrop ward within the Trust’s Deanesly Centre.

Cheryl added: “It has been a very emotional but also fun experience. The ladies who have modelled have been fantastic.”

Cheryl also wanted to create and sell the calendar in memory of baby Leo Fryer, her friend’s grandson. Leo was born a twin and sadly died just 18 days after being born. A further £946.46 was raised from the calendar sales and donated to the NEC UK charity.

Cheryl has previously fundraised for the Trust’s neonatal unit and last year created a calendar featuring male models where she raised more than £3,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. She also runs the Race for Life for Cancer Research UK every year.
