Please be aware that over the coming weekend there will be a major traffic signal upgrade taking place at the junction of A4148 Littleton Street West/Court Way and Stafford Street in Walsall town centre. Whilst the work is taking place it will be necessary to turn off the signals and remove them from use.
With the above in mind the following temporary traffic management arrangements will be in place.
- The southbound bus lane between John Street and Littleton Street West will be closed with a diversion route in operation via Day Street, Wisemore and A4148 Littleton Street West.
- Stafford Street will be made subject to one way traffic between the Townend roundabout and the ring road with traffic permitted to flow in a southerly direction (from the ring road towards the town centre) only.
- The right turns from the ring road into either the northbound or southbound Stafford Street will be prohibited. Drivers travelling towards Walsall town centre are advised to use either Wolverhampton Street or Green Lane with a diversion in operation for northbound traffic using A4148 Court Way, A34 Green Lane, Leamore Lane and B4210 Bloxwich Road.
Whilst the Stafford Street junction will not have temporary signals in place the increased demand on other junction in the town centre area is expected to cause delays.
Pedestrian crossing points will be closed with a diversion in place to the controlled crossing points at the junction of Green Lane and A4148 Blue Lane West.
It is expected that work will be commence tomorrow and be finished on the afternoon of Sunday 8 March 2020.
