Popular Sandwell park among UK’s ‘Great parks and green spaces’

Sandwell Valley Country Park had their busiest weekend this year with thousands of people visiting over the Bank Holiday.

Visitors to the park in West Bromwich were able to soak up the sun and enjoy a Bank Holiday car boot sale and funfair. This follows the park being featured by The Guardian as one of the “Great parks and green spaces in the UK” last week.

The fun is set to continue for the rest of the school holidays and visitors are being urged to come along and enjoy activities at both the farms and the surrounding parks.

Forge Mill Farm has a giant maize maze which is included in the entrance price to the farm. Sandwell Park Farm is offering the chance to meet their chicks, goats and alpacas.

Throughout the holidays children have been cooling off in the splash pad in Dartmouth Park. With the hot weather set to continue, this free, interactive water feature will be very popular with families.

Councillor Maria Crompton, cabinet member with responsibility for parks in Sandwell, said: “We are thrilled to have been featured nationally in the press by The Guardian and are really proud of this wonderful asset in Sandwell.

“This Green Flag park offers something for everyone and is especially proving popular this summer.

“I’d encourage families to come along and spend time enjoying the last weeks of the school holidays at Sandwell Valley Country Park.”
