A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) at the Beechdale Estate in Walsall has been extended for a further 3 years by Walsall Council. The Order which is supported by West Midlands Police was introduced in June 2016 to tackle a range of anti-social behaviour issues on the estate. As the original Order had been in place for three years, Walsall Council recently undertook a public consultation to gauge support for an extension – and this proposal was met with considerable public approval. PSPOs are an important tool that helps the council and partners to tackle ASB and to improve the lives of its communities. Addressing anti-social behaviour is a priority for the Council. The Order will ensure that the law abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces safely, free from anti-social behaviour.
The Order has been extended from 1st June 2019 to 11.59 hours on 31st May 2022.
Councillor Garry Perry, Portfolio Holder, Community, Leisure and Culture said: “Whilst most individuals are law abiding and respect their neighbours, sadly there are those that think they are above the law. This extended Order will have a continuing and positive impact upon the Beechdale estate and send a clear message to those people who have no consideration for others, that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
