Classic cars at the Red House Glass Cone

The Black Country Classic Car Club will bring 20 classic vehicles to the Dudley Council run attraction, marking the fourth time that the club has held such an event there.

The vehicles will be stationed around the site, including the canal-side area and are set to include an Austin Cambridge (1961), Ford Consul Capri (1962), Ford Cortina 1600E (1968), Triiumph TR6 (1972) plus cars from the 80’s and 90’s.

Members of the group will be on site to talk about their cars and answer any questions visitors may have.

There will be glassmakers in the cone’s hot glass studio and the cone’s studios will be open for business. There is a free children’s trail around the site and the Red Cone Coffee House will be serving a range of refreshments.

Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

Last year’s display by the Black Country Classic Car Club went down really well – members of the group are friendly and well-informed and happy to answer any questions visitors may have about their prized vehicles.

With the craft studios also open for business, a free children’s trail and glassblowing demonstrations throughout the day, this is a fun day out for all the family.

The car club meets fortnightly meeting at The Old Swan (Ma Pardoes) in Netherton and new members are welcome. The group was established in May 2003 and currently has more than 70 members. It is made up of enthusiasts and owners, who bring a wide range of vehicles and motoring knowledge to the group. The oldest vehicle in the club is a 1937 MG TD, with vehicles right up to 1994, the 25 year stipulation for any vehicle attending shows.

The Red House Glass Cone, High Street, Wordsley, is open 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 4pm at the weekends including Sunday 22 September. Admission is free.
