- omeowners make more than £1,100 per year on average offering their driveways as parking spaces
- Considerable additional income available at cities and towns across the UK
- Extra earnings can benefit those currently suffering a salary shortfall, and especially as furlough scheme starts to wind down, advises YourParkingSpace.co.uk
With almost 10 million jobs currently on furlough, those homeowners with a driveway and facing a shortfall in their salary could benefit by renting out their driveway to motorists, advises YourParkingSpace.co.uk.
The online parking portal’s latest figures show that its customers make more than £1,100 per year on average when looking at the top 50 earning rented driveway towns and cities.
And with the furlough scheme starting to wind down and most probably ending in October, rented driveways could offer an alternative additional income, especially as lockdown is further eased and more people are travelling while avoiding public transport.
Significantly, although London tops the driveway earning potential, other towns and cities across the UK also provide a considerable driveway average income, such as Edinburgh with £1,896, Bristol with £1,716, Leeds with £1,452, Cardiff with £1,188 and Belfast with £1,164.
In total, there are 25 towns and cities where the average driveway annual income is above £1,000.
Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk, commented: “In these unprecedented economic times many households are worried about their personal finances, and rightly so.
“Offering a driveway to rent by motorists needing somewhere to park could be one way to soften any financial impact for those who have a space available.
“It’s easy and free to list a driveway or empty parking space on YourParkingSpace.co.uk and with our latest figures showing an annual average income of more than £1,100, when considering the top 50 towns and cities, it could help ease any monetary burdens.
“There’s also very little to do after listing a driveway, apart from look forward to the bookings, making it very convenient for many people.”
YourParkingSpace.co.uk currently lists over 350,000 parking spaces across the UK which are available to pre-book on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis.
