Residents and businesses in Sandwell are being reminded to allow extra times for journeys with work now under way in Perry Barr that will eventually lead to the demolition of the A34 flyover.
The message is particularly important for people in the Great Barr area of Sandwell if they are planning journeys to and from Birmingham.
Councillor Jackie Taylor, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for sustainable transport, said: “I would like to remind all residents and businesses, especially in the Great Barr area, that work is now under way over in Birmingham on the A34.
“I want to make sure everyone is aware of the works and the potential for disruption, so they can allow extra time for their journeys.
“We will continue to keep people in Sandwell aware of the scheme’s progress and how it may impact upon them throughout the works.”
Councillor Maria Crompton, Sandwell Council’s Deputy Leader, said: “The work on the A34 may not be being carried out in Sandwell but it will have an effect on our residents and there will be some disruption for some time. So I ask for people to be patient and take safe alternate routes.”
