The Nissan GT-R is the most Instagrammable supercar in the world.

Car insurance experts CarInsurance.ae analysed Instagram hashtag data for cars categorised as ‘supercars’ to reveal which supercar is the most Instagrammable ever made.

Nissan’s GT-R is the most Instagrammable supercar ever made, with 2.69 million posts using the hashtag ‘NissanGTR’ on Instagram. Initially released in 2008, the Nissan GT-R has been hailed as one of the most affordable supercars on the market, along with one of the largest fanbases in motorsport. The Nissan GT-R also holds some ground-breaking performance abilities alongside its aesthetic appreciation. In 2009, the Nissan GT-R R35 was hailed as the fastest 4-seater sports car ever made, landing a place in the Guinness Records Book.

The Audi R8 is the second most Instagrammable supercar. The hashtag ‘AudiR8’ featured in 1.85 million posts on Instagram. First introduced to the market in 2006, the Audi R8 has two model generations, the Type 42 (2006-2015) and the Type 4S (2015-present). The standard R8 model has a top speed of 187mph and a 0-60mph time of 4.4 seconds. However, the fastest variant, the R8 GT, pushes these limits, with a top speed of 199mph and a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds. The Audi R8 has also featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Starks personal vehicle, initially, the standard Type 42 featured in Iron Man, upgrading to a V10 Spyder in Iron Man 2, and an e-Tron prototype in Iron Man 3.

Coming in third place is the Lamborghini Huracán, with 1.34 million posts using the hashtag ‘LamborghiniHuracán’. The original Huracán model, the Huracán LP610, was first released in 2014 as the predecessor of the infamous Lamborghini Gallardo and has since had two new variants, with the Huracán Evo first introduced in 2018, followed by the Huracán STO in 2021.

The Lamborghini Aventador comes in as the fourth most Instagrammable supercar ever made, with 1.32 million posts using the hashtag ‘LamborghiniAventador’ on Instagram. First released in 2011, the Aventador has been said to be the ultimate Lamborghini Road car, thanks to its impressive driving ability paired with the futuristic ‘spaceship-like’ chassis.

Closing out the top five is Ferrari’s LaFerrari, with 1.17 million posts using the hashtag ‘LaFerrari’ on Instagram. Ferrari are a powerhouse in the sports car world, with their historic reputation of the classic red Ferrari showing how influential the brand is, and the La Ferrari was destined to build on that reputation. Often referred to as the greatest Ferrari ever made by many in the petrolhead community, the LaFerrari was the first full hybrid car from the Italian manufacturers.

“Supercars are the epitome of commercial sports car performance, often found to be many people ‘dream car’. The aesthetic superiority of supercars is just one reason they are so desirable. It is fascinating to see what supercars rank as some of the most Instagrammable ever made. With the Nissan GT-R coming out on top, it is fair to say this supercar is a real force to be reckoned with in the motorsport community. Its also interesting to see how many Italian manufacturers feature in the top ten, with Ferrari and Lamborghini taking up five of the top ten spots on the most Instagrammable supercars list.”
