Birmingham Metro Bankers Turn Chefs to Cook for the Homeless

The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Birmingham store decided to use their Day to Amaze by volunteering for SIFA Fireside where they helped prepare over one hundred meals for homeless people.

SIFA Fireside is a charity that supports people in their recovery from the effects of homelessness. The charity helps people rebuild their lives by providing a number of services through an adult support hub, drop-in centre and tenancy support.Metro Bank colleagues Naser Ahmed and Simran Kaur helped prepare the meals.

As a community bank you can always count on us for support,” says Naser Ahmed, Birmingham Metro Bank’s Customer Service Representative. “The impact of being able to offer a good home cooked meal to someone who needs it cannot be underestimated. It was really rewarding to be able to support such a good cause.”

Simran Kaur, Birmingham Metro Bank’s Customer Service Representative added: “It was so heartwarming to do something so simple to brighten someone’s day. I enjoyed cooking and I am looking forward to our next visit.”
