CLEAN AIR DAY

Creating a great city to live in.

Councillors from across all political parties have declared a climate emergency in Birmingham. A series of videos will look at what the council is doing to tackle climate change and what more needs to be done. You can watch videos one and two now.

New cycle routes into the city on the A34 (from Heathfield Road, Birchfield) and A38 (from Selly Oak) have been opened. The routes are being delivered as part of the Birmingham Cycle Revolution programme, which has a vision to make cycling an everyday way to travel over the next 20 years.

As part of an event to welcome back the gold-medal winning Chelsea flower display to the city, the council has offered community groups, across the city, the opportunity to apply for clean-up kits.

A section of the iconic A38 Aston Expressway is set to be converted into a paved park for International Car Free Day on 22 September. The day, running from 10am to 4pm, will include fun activities and opportunities to play games, walk and cycle – or simply just soak up the atmosphere.

It’s Clean Air Day on 20 June. The day is a chance to find out more about air pollution, share information with friends and help make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone. There are plenty of ways to get involved – not only on the day, but ongoing into the future.

Plans for the redevelopment of Alexander Stadium are set to go on display at public drop-in events later in June.

A new pilot scheme, equipping city centre businesses and late night venues with specialist first aid kits, has been launched in Birmingham.
