Walsall volunteer tree wardens braved the cold yesterday and planted 35 trees along the Bloxwich and Pelsall boundary on Wolverhampton Road.
The wardens were joined by the tree team from Clean and Green at Walsall Council, the Woodlands Trust, Hillier Trees, the Friends of Pelsall Commons, Asda’s Community Champion and students from Pelsall Village School.
Councillor Oliver Butler, Portfolio Holder for Clean and Green at Walsall Council said:
“The tree wardens have been doing fantastic work around the borough for many years now and it was a real pleasure to go along and help them yesterday.”
“Air quality is very much in the news just now and trees play a significant role in improving air quality by helping to trap carbon-dioxide and filtering dust from the air.”
The trees planted today were donated by the Woodlands Trust and supplied by Hillier Nurseries.
Walsall volunteer tree wardens are part of the Tree Council, which is one of the UK’s leading charities for trees, promoting their importance in a changing environment and working in partnership with communities, organisations and government to make trees matter to everyone.
