A local post office owner in Birmingham was hurt when his business was broken into, and he was demanded cash at knifepoint
Mr Harry Kundi was working his usual afternoon shift at his establishment when the premises were broken into by a youth armed with a bladed article. The suspect used the back entrance to enter the building unlawfully at around 5:30pm. He then proceeded to threaten Mr Kundi. He later fled with the cash he stole in hand.
Mr Kundi, who oversees the mail counter and convenience store at The Fold, Walkers Heath, was described as a “gentleman” by his customers. He was also mentioned as a “nice” and “helpful” individual. One witness was deeply shocked and said that Mr Kundi had been “attacked with a machete.”
Post-Master Mr Kundi commented on his condition, saying that he was “alright and no one was hurt”, but was unable to discuss the incident further.
The local area where the incident occurred has been described as a drug haven where anti-social behaviour is regularly tolerated. One father-of-two who refused to be named commented that there is often “dealing in broad daylight” and youngsters “smoking marijuana.”
The man further stated: “I worry and my wife and I often think about moving, but the schools are very good locally.
“I feel the police have given up the fight on drugs there. It’s becoming lawless.
“I feel angry. What on earth is happening?”
Around half a dozen police officers attended the scene. An investigation is still pending to discover the identity of the aforementioned attacker.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the police or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. The Fold Post Office will remain open as per usual.
