Twitter updates its Retweet function
I have been waiting for this feature for a long time, definitely long overdue in my humble opinion. Twitter is now making it easier for your retweets to be more imaginative by giving you additional options. They will now let you add a gif, video, photo to your shared content similarly when you re-share Facebook posts. It will definitely add more colour to Twitter feeds with the many multimedia options available. This as a highly requested feature according to Twitter, I bet. Only other feature people are waiting for is that controversial “edit” button. I feel that would be a step too far, Twitter would not be Twitter if you were suddenly be able to Edit your posts but hey ho, that may change in the not so distant future.
Twitter lowers the number of accounts you can follow per day
From 1000 to 400, Twitter has made a move to cut the number of accounts you can follow per day. This has been part of Twitters ongoing efforts to clean up API users to eliminate bot spammers, this will definitely slow the bots down. You might be wondering why they have chosen 400 instead of 300 or 500? The company have recently been quoted as saying: “We looked at follow behavior at various thresholds, and selected 400 as a reasonable limit…”. Twitter continues to focus on updating its spam reporting tools and, more recently it has introduced a new security measures for signing up with verifying your identity.
The new prototype app “Twttr” has just gone live for the first batch of testers. It’s a “work in progress” project that aims to test out new ideas outside of Twitter’s public network. As a natural first step, Twitter will be testing new conversation thread designs and its updated status structure. None of the testers were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements, so any thoughts/feedback will be out in the open and accessible to everybody to generate even more buzz. Twitter rolling a new mini platform version of itself in form of Twttr
Beta testers are putting the new prototype app “Twttr” through its paces. Almost like a not so secret focus group, it’s aim to test out new ideas outside of Twitter’s public network. One of the first steps Twitter is planning to test are new conversation thread designs and an a revised status structure. Surprisingly none of the of the testers were asked to sign NDA, so people can openly discuss, give feedback about the testing journey which will no doubt create a lot more buzz and interest.
